Refund policy

Returns, Refunds and Cancellations

This policy applies to purchases made directly from 8speed.au. We supply customers within Australia only. For purchases from another retailer or conversion dealer, please contact that business.

Choose your parts carefully

Transmission conversions require careful component selection. Please check the product description, specifications, selected variant and compatibility with your installer before ordering.

If you need clarification about a specific product we sell, contact us before purchasing. We do not provide complete conversion parts lists or individual build-planning services.

Change of mind and incorrectly ordered parts

We do not offer automatic refunds or exchanges where you change your mind, cancel your project, no longer need a part, find it cheaper elsewhere or select an incorrect product or variant.

This applies where we have supplied the product you ordered and it matches our description and any specific suitability advice we provided.

We may consider an exception at our discretion. Contact us before sending anything back. For a discretionary return, goods must be unused, uninstalled, unmodified and complete, with their original packaging and accessories.

Any agreed return conditions, including return freight and any reasonable restocking charge, will be confirmed in writing before you proceed. Original delivery charges are not refundable for discretionary change-of-mind returns.

We do not accept change-of-mind returns for custom-made or special-order items, software licences already activated, or electronic components that have been connected, programmed or installed.

These restrictions apply only to change-of-mind returns and do not limit your rights for faulty, incorrectly supplied or misdescribed goods.

Faulty products and your consumer rights

Your purchases may be covered by guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that this policy does not exclude or restrict.

For a major failure, you may choose a refund or replacement. You may also choose to keep the goods and seek compensation for their reduced value. For a minor failure, we may initially provide a repair or another appropriate remedy. If the problem is not resolved within a reasonable time, further rights may apply.

You may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by a failure to meet a consumer guarantee.

A manufacturer’s warranty is additional to these rights. Expiry of that warranty does not automatically end your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Installation, modification and use

Performance and conversion components must be installed, configured and used appropriately for their intended application.

We are not responsible for faults or damage caused by incorrect installation, wiring, programming, misuse, unsuitable modifications or operation outside the product’s intended specifications.

Installation, modification or motorsport use does not automatically exclude a claim. We will consider the product’s intended use and whether those activities caused the reported problem.

If you suspect a fault, stop using the affected component where continued use could cause damage, and contact us before arranging further modification or repair.

Incorrect or damaged deliveries

Please inspect your order when it arrives. If an item is missing, damaged or different from what you ordered, contact us promptly with your order details and photographs where available.

Please retain packaging that may help us investigate transit damage. Prompt reporting assists assessment; it does not create a fixed deadline that overrides your consumer rights.

How to request a return or report a fault

Contact us through our Contact Us page and include:

  • Your order number or other proof of purchase.
  • The product name and part number, if available.
  • A clear description of the issue or reason for return.
  • Relevant photographs and any available installation or diagnostic information.

Please contact us before posting goods so we can provide the appropriate return address and instructions.

We may inspect or test the product, or arrange assessment by its supplier or manufacturer. We remain responsible for handling your claim for goods purchased from us.

Original packaging is not required for a consumer-guarantee claim, but returned goods should be securely packaged.

Return freight and refunds

Where a fault covered by consumer guarantees is confirmed, we will reimburse reasonable return freight costs. For incorrectly supplied goods, we will arrange or cover the reasonable cost of return and correction. Where goods cannot reasonably be posted or transported because of their size, weight or the nature of the fault, we will arrange collection as required by law.

No restocking or processing fee applies to a refund you are entitled to under Australian Consumer Law.

Refunds will be returned through the original payment method unless we agree otherwise with you. We will confirm when the refund has been processed; your payment provider may require additional time to display it.

Order cancellations

Contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel or change an order. Requests arising solely from a change of mind are subject to our agreement. Dispatch, special ordering or custom work may already have commenced.

Any proposed cancellation charges will be explained and agreed before a discretionary cancellation proceeds. If we cannot supply your order, we will refund the amount paid for the unsupplied goods and any associated delivery charges that no longer apply.

Nothing in this section limits a cancellation or refund right available under Australian Consumer Law.
